The Conservatives in West Dorset work hard to represent the interests of people who live here. We are always looking for people to support the message. You can help in many ways. Some of these are: Support social and fundraising events, standing as a Councillor, help us leaflet or display a poster.
You can find out what events are taking place by checking with your local Conservative branch. These events are great opportunities to meet up with friends and talk about all the current activities around the area.
Become a Town or Dorset Councillor
We aim to have a candidate for each ward. If this interests you, and want to find out more on becoming a Conservative Councillor contact us and we can tell you what is involved.
Help us with leafleting
We regularly deliver leaflets and newsletters by hand to electors in all areas. We need help in ensuring that our message is sent around quickly and efficiently. If you could help us by delivering your road, or the area around where you live, that would help us enormously. Get in touch if you can help. It’s fun and keeps (or gets) you fit!
Become a member
Membership of the Party is extremely important. Members help financially to support the professional help we need in West Dorset. We have a full time Agent and assistant. The Conservative Party has more members than Labour & Liberal Democrats put together, and so there is no better time to get involved. You can become a member for as little as £3.50a month. You can download and print the attached membership form at the bottom of this page.
Donate
Fundraising is a lot of what a political association is about. Without funds we cannot run an office employ an agent and run elections. If you don’t want to join but would like to support us with a donation, do contact us or send a cheque!
Canvassing
We canvas voters in 2 ways – by phone and on the doorstep. At different times through the year we try to contact as many people as possible to hear their views and what matters to them. This is always fun and very interesting and not at all daunting. If you like talking to people and wish to help us with this important work, please contact us. We do train our canvassers, so that you can relax and talk with a smile in your voice!
Young Conservatives
About Young Conservatives:
Young Conservatives share the same values and policies as the Conservative Party, with branches across the UK which are an integrated part of local constituency Associations, with the exception of college and university branches which are run independently. YC is both social and political, aiming to bring together young conservatives and encouraging young people to get involved in campaigning.
As a group, we will hold political events, social events, engage in community projects, and campaign in support of our Councillors and candidates across the constituency, including our MP Chris Loder. The YC movement is all about involving young people in politics and addressing the issues that matter to them. The YC branch in West Dorset will serve to amplify the voice of young conservatives to the association and wider party.
Membership of the party for under 26s is only £5 - so why not join today!
